Many schools experience traffic chaos at the beginning and end of the school day. Double parking, children getting out of cars and running across the road, parents parking on the yellow zig zags at the school gates and even parking on pavements. Visibility is reduced, making it really dangerous for other pedestrians and the families of our school.
To try and combat this problem as part of Road Safety Week, our school council members have enlisted the help of our local council Road Safety Officer (Nigel) to patrol the school car park and the streets around our school at the beginning and end of the school day ensuring that parents park safely.
The children learnt about the importance of keeping themselves safe on and near roads during a whole school assembly led by our Road Safety Officer. As part of this drive to ensure safe parking outside our school we are inviting all children to take part in a poster competition, children can design a poster on any aspect of road safety. Entries must be in school by Monday 28th November.
