Poetry Competition October 2024

The children at GTS took part in a whole school competition to create poetry to mark National Poetry Day. This years theme was counting, so the children were asked to create a counting or autumnal inspired poem. The children in EYFS were asked to create an illustration for a nursery rhyme.

There were over 50 entries and it was very tricky to choose the 2 winners.

Mrs Potter announced the winners on Friday 18th October. Congratulations to Hayder in Year 1 and Koa in EYFS for their fabulous entries. The judges loved that these children had taken great care in their presentation of their poems but it was also clear the children had completed a lot of the task by themselves with limited adult support.

Thank you to everyone who took part, you are fantastic poets! All of the poems are on display in the Office entrance/foyer so please come and take a look when you can.

Poetry competition winners

During the Easter holidays the children at GTS were asked to write a postcard and send it in to school to tell their teacher and their classmates about their Easter holiday adventures. Mrs. Potter (our Writing Lead) received over 210 postcards! It was fantastic to see so many children writing for purpose and to read about the children's Easter holidays. Children had travelled far and wide, from Orlando, to India and lots of fun was also had at the local parks and farms in Milton Keynes. Keep your eyes peeled for more writing challenges.
