Gruffalo Crumble - November 2024

WAIL: To cut food safely and independently using a knife

This week we really enjoyed taking part in a cooking activity; we made ‘Gruffalo Crumble’ (Apple Crumble!)

The children were interested in finding out what ingredients we would be using and enjoyed looking at and sharing the recipe with each other. We then talked about what equipment we would need and a reminder of how to keep safe and hygienic when cooking.

Everyone was then shown how to cut food safely and they all had a go at making a bridge with their hands and cutting the apples into small pieces to add to the dish.

After that we added the rest of the ingredients, and mixed them together to make the crumble topping and baked the crumble in the oven.

In the afternoon we enjoyed tasting the crumble, lots of us thought it was delicious and wanted more! We were very proud as almost everyone tried the crumble.
