WAIL: To say why Diwali is celebrated

We have enjoyed celebrating our first faith week which focused on the Hindu festival of Diwali. The children enjoyed exploring the artefacts that we have in school. We have looked at some traditional ways in which people dress when celebrating Diwali. We have set up an area which represents what it might look like in a house that was celebrating Diwali. We have shared the story of Rama and Sita. We asked lots of questions and enjoyed listening to different ways in which different families celebrate. We were very lucky to get a visit from a parent who shared with us their beautiful traditional dresses, some music and a fabulous dance- the children enjoyed joining in with some tradition Hindu dancing.
