What a fantastic day Year 1 had on their exciting trip to Leighton Buzzard!
As part of their history learning, the children have been exploring the fascinating world of trains — discovering how they’ve changed over time and learning about the pioneers who helped shape railway travel as we know it today.
In English, the children have been captivated by the story The Train Ride by June Crebbin. They enjoyed retelling the story, using their imaginations to write their own wonderful versions. Each child thought carefully about what they might see through the train window and who would be there to greet them at the end of the journey.
To bring their learning to life, on Friday 25th April 2025, Year 1 set off on a real train adventure. They walked to Milton Keynes Central station, navigated their way to the platform, and boarded a train to Leighton Buzzard. Along the way, the children were delighted to spot many of the things they had imagined from the story.
After arriving at Leighton Buzzard, they walked to Parson's Close Park for a sunny picnic and lots of fun in the playground, before catching the train back to Milton Keynes.
It was a joyful and memorable day, and a perfect way to celebrate all their brilliant learning about trains!
