Train Ride

Take a look at our fantastic trip to Leighton Buzzard.

Year 1 have been learning about trains in our history lessons. The children have researched how trains have changed over time and have focused on key pioneers in the development of trains.

Year 1 have also focused on the text 'The Train Ride' by June Crebbin in their English lessons. The children recited the story before writing their own versions of the text. The children then created their own Train Ride stories and thought carefully about what they might be able to see out of the train window and who might be welcoming them at the train station.

In this video you can hear the children retelling the story.

On 17th May 2024 the Year 1 children went on a train ride to Leighton Buzzard. They walked to Milton Keynes Central train station, navigated their way to the platform, they enjoyed their train journey to Leighton Buzzard and were lucky enough to spot lots of things that feature in the Train Ride text. From Leighton Buzzard station the children walked to Parson's Close park, where they enjoyed a picnic in the beautiful sunshine and a play in the park, before heading back to the train station for their return journey back to Milton Keynes.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and this was a fantastic way to conclude our learning about trains.
