Science Week March 2025
WAIL: to explore a variety of Science experiments.
What an incredible time we had during Science Week! We were thrilled to have a visit from Professor Lawson, who led us through a series of exciting experiments that sparked our curiosity. We kicked off with a rainbow water experiment, followed by an explosive volcano experiment where we added different liquids together to create an eruption! We were absolutely amazed when Professor Lawson put a pencil through a plastic bag filled with water—and it didn’t even leak! We couldn’t believe our eyes!
The fun didn’t stop there. We took part in a Skittles experiment where we predicted whether hot or cold water would dissolve the food colouring on the sweets, and we watched the colours spread! Outside, we had huge fun experimenting with Mentos and Coke. The bottles exploded in spectacular fashion, leaving us all in awe! We also tested what would happen to a pine cone when placed in water and tried dissolving our homemade gingerbread men in different liquids, making predictions about what we thought would happen. It was a week full of wonder, discovery, and hands-on science that we’ll never forget. We truly felt like keen scientists! What a fantastic week it was!
