KNOWLEDGE

By learning about human survival and the basic needs to survive the children will develop a better understanding of the Natural World around them. The children study life cycles and food chains to learn about how different creatures depend upon each other. Through the focus of ‘The Revolutionary World’ children will study the lives and impacts of Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. Children will continue to develop skills and digital literacy in producing and presenting multimedia presentations.  To improve the children’s understanding of food and nutrition the children will gain a better understanding of healthy foods by creating their own cold soup for a purpose.

POSSIBILITIES

Children are encourage to be curious and have a sense of excitement towards their learning. This term we will encourage the children to ask questions about what they notice and carry out different approaches to gain knowledge and understanding. They will also experience animals first hand through our Zoolab visit.

DIVERSITY

Through the focus of ‘The Earth Our Home’ children will develop an understanding of how significant individuals in the past have changed and impacted the future. The children will also gain a better understanding that everyone is different, have different beliefs, different traditions and how these are celebrated.

COMMUNITY

We will encourage children to explore our immediate locality and look for inspiration from significant individuals linking Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole to the key workers of today.
