Read or watch the next part of the story when mouse meets owl. Encourage the children to join in with the rhyme and pattern within the story and the repeated refrain; “A Gruffalo? What’s a Gruffalo? A Gruffalo! Why, didn’t you know? “

Discuss the character of owl.

Why does he talk about the Gruffalo like this?  How do these descriptions make each of the animals feel? How does this change from when they first saw the mouse?  What does the mouse want the animals to think?  Why?
