Read or watch the first part of the story when mouse meets snake. Encourage the children to join in with the rhyme and pattern within the story and the repated refrain On went the mouse through the deep dark wood. “A snake saw the mouse and the mouse looked ……” Describe this new character, use talk partners to develop vocabulary.
