Remind your child about their learning from last week, what did we look at? What did we learn?
Re-read the story up to the part where the mouse comes face to face with the Gruffalo, encourage your child to join in with the repeated refrains again and this time also “Silly…..Doesn’t he know, There’s no such thing as a gruffalo”
Read the description of the Gruffalo. Ask your child to describe the Gruffalo, write their ideas, encouraging them to not only think of his appearance but also what he is like.

Ask your child to predict what they think might happen next. What makes them think this? Are they using their own prior knowledge of the text or the book?
Follow up activity – write a character description of the Gruffalo – encourage your child to draw a picture of The Gruffalo and to use the sounds they know to label it.
