WAIL: To know London is the capital city of England
WAIL: To identify significant London landmarks
WAIL: To name significant landmarks in London – Big Ben, Thames, St Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament
The children had an exciting week focusing on the story ‘Katie in London’. We were learning all about London, the landmarks, that it is a capital city and that it is the largest city in England. The children were thrilled to learn different joining techniques to help them to build a London landmark using junk modelling. The children loved to role play in the small world area with the London vehicles (black taxi and red double decker buses) as well as the London landmarks in miniature form. The children were constructing Buckingham palace and Tower Bridge independently in the construction area. The children were learning that King Charles lives in Buckingham Palace, so the role play area was redesigned as a Buckingham Palace dining room where the children enjoyed a royal tea while discussing their favourite London landmarks. The children had a fantastic week!
