WAIL: To talk about Lunar New Year
We have been learning about Lunar New Year. We listened to ‘The Great Race’ which is all about how the animals got their order in the Luna calendar. We then had a go at acting out the story too. We watched some videos of how people get ready for Lunar New Year; cleaning, buying food, decorating. Then we watched some videos and read a book about how people celebrate Lunar New Year; giving gifts, eating food, watching a dragon dance and fireworks. The children learnt about the colour red and the importance it holds by signifying luck and good fortune. We also had some different objects out within the environment for children to explore. The children then had a go at tasting egg noodles which they very much enjoyed. During our music session the children had a go at creating their own Chinese Dragon dance. We then finished off a fantastic week by holding a sharing assembly for our parents to show off all of our fantastic learning!
