An Island Home!

This term Year 2 have had a brilliant time learning through their topic ‘An Island home.’

They had used the popular stories of ‘Katie Morag’ as their stimulus. Through this the children have learnt about the UK and the surrounding areas, oceans and continents, made ‘porridgies’, retold stories, created poems and learnt about materials and their properties in science. The children also learnt about various weather conditions and made their very own weather stations to record our local weather and became weather reporters to share this information with their peers. Year 2 even embraced the scottish theme of katie Morag in their P.E lessons, learning shot-put skills and highland jigs in Dance lessons.

Year 2 have also been busy learning about remembrance day, making poppies and visiting our local war memorial in Shenley Church End.

During the exciting run up to Christmas the children have been designing and making their own felt bags during DT lessons. We hope you enjoy receiving them as christmas gifts just as much as the children enjoyed making them.
