Teach phoneme/grapheme:  Introduce the sound ‘ff’ and explain it is a digraph - 2 letters making 1 sound. 

Practise a few each day: Practise spotting words that rhyme in books or by using the pictures sent home for last week's home learning

Phase 1: Collect a selection of objects starting with different sounds.  Play I spy with my little eye something beginning with 'say the first sound in the word' eg 'p' – can your child identify the object?

Practice: Have a look at the pictures on the document. Say the words out loud and think about the different sounds you can hear in the words. Pinch the sounds onto your Fred fingers to check if you have got them all.

Ask your child to jump forward when hearing a syllable in the word for example Tiger child will jump two spaces.
