Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We would like to thank everyone who came to join in our party on July 18th, to celebrate becoming the first Infant school in the country to receive the Outstandingly Happy school award! We celebrated not only with the children and their families but also with the Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes, Sam Crooks; Children and Families Councillor, Zoe Nolan; School Improvement Partner, Sue Pettit; Paul Field from the Art of Brilliance, Sarah from Yogamotive and School Governors Maggie Wyke and Malcolm Dobell. We all had a lovely afternoon listening to songs from our resident singing squad and kindness club members and enjoying an wonderful array of delicious cakes.
Thank you once again for everyone’s continued commitment and support for Glastonbury Thorn school, this award belongs to all of you!
We are delighted to share that on Tuesday 3rd July 2018 Glastonbury Thorn School was given the prestigious Award of being an Outstandingly Happy School. We are the very first infant school in the country to have achieved this status and the only school in Milton Keynes.
The children began working on this in September 2017, this is something that we will continue to embed and carry on. Tony Seymour the Inspector from Art of Brilliance was thoroughly impressed with what the children had achieved so far and was very proud to award us with this status.
This status recognises that as a school we promote the principles of positivity, confidence, flourishing, resilience, optimism, community spirit, kindness, aspiration and strengths.
Our kindness club which takes place on Fridays within school has been a big success!
We are very proud of all of our children and staff!
Thank you to all the Dads/Grandads/Uncles and Brothers who attended our annual ‘Bring Your Dad to School afternoon.’
We enjoyed a whole range of activities including Model moon buggies, stone ladybirds/minibeasts, design a football kit, Worldcup word search, Paper aeroplanes, decorating biscuits, lego challenges and much more! The children loved sharing their school with their families and we hope you all had lots of fun too!!
