  • Helpful people!

    Wed 10 Feb 2016

Our youngest learners have had such a busy half term learning through their topic ‘People who help us.’

Visits from our local firefighters, paramedics, the refuse team and a health visitor have all made this topic come alive for the children.  They have learnt about the very important and valuable roles these dedicated people play in our community and as a result many children have shown an interest in fulfilling some of these roles in the future.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who very kindly gave up their time to come and speak with our children, they are still ‘pretending’ to be them to this day!

What a wonderful, engaging start to the year!

  • Living in my skin

    Wed 10 Feb 2016

Year 1 have had a great start to the new year by learning all about themselves and those around them. They have been learning about various different religions and cultures through this exciting topic.

We were very lucky to have our local Reverend, Tim, carry out a baptism within school. Some of the children took on different roles and enjoyed learning why and how a baby is baptised in the Christian faith.

The children also went on a walk around the local area to visit and learn about our local church and environment.

As part of this topic the children have also been learning to write and follow instructions on how to make a healthy sandwich and smoothie! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed making and eating their healthy meals and we would like to thank parents and our local Supermarket Morrisons for providing the ingredients.

  • Head teacher for the day!

    Wed 10 Feb 2016

Lots of children dream of running the school and imagine what it would be like to be in charge…well one of our pupils got to do just that!

Lucas, from Year 2, won a Christmas bash prize of being the ‘Head teacher for the day’ and got to see for himself exactly what the job entails. He shadowed our Head teacher, Fiona Webb, for the whole day in January, undertaking her day to day tasks with her.

Lucas enjoyed writing a letter to parents, giving out the certificates in our weekly superstar assembly, listening to a training presentation, monitoring teaching and learning across the school, carrying out playground duty and discussing important school matters with our school council members.

All in all he and Fiona had a great day and Lucas concluded that being a Head teacher was a lot harder than it looks but lots of fun too!
