Mrs Morris
Teaching Assistant
My Journey
My involvement with Glastonbury Thorn School began in 1999 when my daughter started here as a ‘rising five’, as it was known back then, my two sons later followed in her footsteps. I fell in love with the school and wanted to become more involved within the school community and joined as a member of the ‘Friends Association’. I assisted over several years in many different fund raising events and enjoyed being involved as a parent helper.
In 2009 I became a teaching assistant here, I had previously taught in a college of further education, teaching children from fourteen years old to mature students. Adapting to working with such young children was a challenge but very exciting and extremely rewarding. I am passionate about learning and I am currently in my second year of an ‘Early Childhood and Education Degree’, which proves you are never too old to learn!
I thoroughly enjoy my role in school and I feel very fortunate to be part of children’s learning journeys. It is actually a privilege to work with the wonderful children and their families at GTS. Building relationships is really important to me and I enjoy getting to know the children’s personalities and characters. I believe if children are nurtured, feel safe and secure they are able to learn and develop their natural curiosity to investigate the world around them.
