I have always enjoyed learning and trying to be the very best I can be. I think this stems from being the youngest girl in a large family of older brothers where I was never going to be out done just because I was the youngest!
After 6th Form I did a lot of travelling and visited Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Travelling provided lots of brilliant learning experiences and taught me lots about myself, and gave me a resilience for most things life can throw at you!
I did a degree in Psychology by the seaside, and went on to being involved in writing course materials for primary school children in North and South Africa, with a particular interest of what makes good teaching and learning.
I had not really considered being a class teacher myself until later on in life.
After being a stay at home mum looking after my own 3 children I began volunteering in my local primary school. The teacher I helped was an amazing practitioner – she was nurturing, informative and captivating to listen to. She inspired me to do a PGCE and a year later I was an NQT in a school on the same road where I grew up as a child (it was like it was meant to be!) Since then I haven’t looked back. I love being in the classroom, providing children with fun and inspiring lessons using lots of songs and visual aids.
The vision for GTS is exciting and I look forward to continuing my teaching (and learning) journey as Lions class teacher.
