Growing a Bean Plant

The children will be bringing home a bean in their book bag.  Please follow the instructions below and see whether your bean grows.  You can use any transparent jar or container so the children can see the different parts of the plants beginning to grow.

Please take a photograph (and put it on Tapestry) each week for the next 4 weeks and talk to your child about what is happening.  We will be asking them to explain what has happened to their bean.  They should be able to use the language of roots, stem, leaves and flower to describe the parts of the plant.  When the plant is big enough you could plant it outside in your garden and see whether it produced beans!
