This week we have been recapping some of the previously taught sounds to ensure we are secure with these; g, o, c, k, ck, e. We have also been practising our oral blending skills which we are getting quite good at! We have then been beginning to move on to orally segmenting- hearing the sounds in words which is the next skill.
Practise oral blending: say the following words and ask your child to blend them together; c-a-t, t-a-n, j-a-m, w-e-t, f-a-n, b-i-g, m-a-p, b-u-g, p-i-p, c-u-p, s-e-t.
Beginning oral segmenting; ask your child what sounds they can hear in the following words; sun, cat, map, rug, tin. If they are unsure of the middle and end sounds start by exaggerating these so they are able to begin to hear them.
Please put a video onto Tapestry to share how your child got on with this.
