This week the children have been learning about the numbers 1, 2 and 3 so they can understand how they are made up. We looked at different ways to represent the number by collecting different objects to match each numeral. Please use objects to help your child understand that 3 can be made in different ways 1 + 2, 2 + 1 and 1+1+1 are all equal to 3. To support this you could write a blank number sentence:
+ = 3
+ + + = 3
Ask your child to collect 3 toys and place them in the different combinations to represent 3. They have been taught this in class so should have some understanding of the activity. Please share any photographs or videos on Tapestry.
