They will identify short sentences which go together and select two 'pairs' to join, using 'and'.

Learning journey

The children will share a short story and retell events using a story map to plan their writing. They will then use their story map to write a sequences of sentences, using the conjunction 'and' to join words and sentences.

(This writing frame has sentence starters to support those children who find writing a bit tricky)

Success criteria: I can start letters in the correct place

                            I can keep them a consistent size relative to each other

 

Learning journey

Before the children start writing, watch the first video and encourage them to 'warm up' their fingers ready for writing.

Watch the 3 letter formation videos one at a time, giving the children an opportunity practise their letter formation in between.  Children who find handwriting tricky can practise their letter formation using one of the activities from the 'Ideas for Handwriting' sheet.
